Quang Tri receives endangered pig-tailed macaque from local resident
Recent awareness-raising initiatives in Truong Son commune, Quang Tri province have encouraged residents to surrender wild animals, such as hornbills and rhesus macaques, which were subsequently released back into their natural habitats.

A pig-tailed macaque, an endangered species listed under Group IIB, was handed over to authorities in Truong Son commune, Quang Tri province by a local resident on October 27.
Earlier the same day, when relevant forces encouraged villagers to protect wildlife, Ho Van Duong, born in 1957 and residing in Rin Rin village, voluntarily surendered the 2kg macaque.
He said he had found the injured animal while working on his farm and taken it home for care.
Following the handover, commune police, forest rangers, and border guards completed verification procedures and prepared to transfer the animal to the Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Creature Development under the Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park.
