At the talks, the two sides briefed each other on their respective socio-economic situations, national defense and security, as well as the situation of veterans and experience in veterans' association activities.

The two sides also spoke highly of the results achieved in implementing the memoranda of understanding previously signed between the former Quang Binh Provincial Veterans Association and the delegation of the Khammouane Provincial Veterans Association, as well as between the former Quang Tri Provincial Veterans Association and the delegation of the Savannakhet Provincial Veterans Association.

In a spirit of friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and sincere and open-hearted relations, the delegations exchanged views, discussed and reached consensus on areas of coordination for the coming period. They agreed to further promote the dissemination and education of officials, veterans, association members and the people, particularly younger generations, to deepen their understanding of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Overview of the talks

The two sides agreed to strengthen information sharing and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of twinning activities between veterans' associations at various levels in localities sharing a common border. They will proactively coordinate and support each other in socio-cultural affairs, border security, policies for military families and beneficiaries, and the implementation of policies and benefits for veterans. They will also continue to coordinate efforts to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos.
