Nguyen The Quynh won gold medal at 2017 Int’l Physics Olympiad

(Quang Binh Portal) - According to information from the Department of Education and Training, twelve-grader Nguyen The Quynh from Vo Nguyen Giap Senior High School for Gifted students won gold medal at the 2017 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). This is the second time Nguyen The Quynh won gold medal at this competition.

The 2017 IPhO, held from July 17-23 in the Indonesian city of Yogyakarta, saw the participation of 424 pre-college contestants from 86 countries and territories.

Vietnam students won 4 gold and 1 silver medal, ranking the fifth after China, South Korea, Russsia and Singapore. This was the highest achievement yet by a Vietnamese physics team.

Together with his gold medal at the 47th IPhO, held in July in Switzerland, Nguyen The Quynh is the first student who won two world gold medals in the history of education and training sector of Quang Binh province. This is also an excellent and rare achievement in the history of the International Physics Olympiads for high school students.

It is known that the Department of Education and Training and the Vo Nguyen Giap Senior High School for Gifted students will hold a ceremony to welcome student Nguyen The Quynh from Indonesian to Quang Binh.
