Standing Vice-chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang inspects preparation for the breaking-ground ceremony of Quang Trach thermo-power plant

(Quang Binh Website) - On July 14 morning, Standing Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang went on an inspection tour about work of preparation for the breaking ground ceremony of Quang Trach thermo-power plant which will be started construction on July 19, 2011. Vice-chairman was accompanied by representatives of related agencies and localities.

Located in Vinh Son village, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, the Quang Trach thermo-power plant is built on an area of 199.3ha of land and 100ha on sea. The plant has a total investment capital of over US$1.7 billion with a capacity of 2,400 MW per day (including two turbines with a capacity of 1.200 MW/turbine). The plant uses pulverised coal-fired technology with imported coal in order to ensure high efficiency and eco-friendliness.

When fully operational, the plant will be expected to supply about 8.4 billion kWh each year for the national grid and contribute VND1,200 - 1,500 billion to local budget.

Under the plan, the plan will be expected to begin generating power for the first in June 2015 and the second in December 2015.

At his inspection tour, Standing Vice-chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang highly valued the efforts made by related agencies, units and localities and stressed that this project plays an important role to socio-economic development of the province, therefore the related agencies, units and localities should create all favorable conditions to start construction of the plant as scheduled plan, ensuring security and social safety and order.

On this occasion, Standing Vice-chairman also paid a visit to the Quang Dong Primary School. This is the school that the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation has invested VND5 billion to build eight classrooms and a spacious office for teaching staff. In the future, the Corporation will continue to support VND300 million to buy equipment and repair school yard to timely welcome a new school year.
