1,000 scholarships offered to students in flood-hit areas
More than 1,000 scholarships, with an aggregate value of 500 million VND, will be given to students of all grades with financial difficulties in the areas across the province which suffered from historic floods in October, according to the organizers.
The organizers also revealed that the scholarship offering program will be divided into two phases, with the first phase in the first half of December, when 700 scholarships will be granted. The 300 remaining scholarships will be given to poor students by the end of December.
Local officials and educators hope that the program will in-part ease financial difficulties of students in flood-affected areas and encourage them to study better at schools.
So far, Quang Binh has given 4,000 scholarships worth 7 billion VND to local students since the beginning of this year.
