Defence Minister visits to Quang Binh province

(Quang Binh Website) - During his ongoing working visit to Military Zone 4, General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo Member, Deputy-Secretary of the Military Central Commission and Defence Minister on August 29th had a working visit to the Military High Command and the Border Guard High Command of Quang Binh province.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Luong Ngoc Binh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of the provincial Military Headquarters and the provincial Border Guard Headquarters and representatives of the Offices of the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee.

General Thanh was briefed on the obtained achievements of the Quang Binh Provincial Military High Command and their combat readiness over the recent period. Over the past year, the Military High Command helped local authorities strengthen their defence and security tasks. Since 1994, agencies and units found 1.519 sets of remains of martyrs, who died in Laos, and brought them back to their homeland.

The provincial border guards have actively taken part in natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue activities. From 2009 to now, the provincial border guards have joined hands in building 181 houses of great unity with a total cost of VND6 billion;  helped local people in remote areas develop economically and society to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty, as well as fight crimes. In addition, the provincial border guards has closely coordinated with all levels and security and military forces of two provinces of Khammounane and Savanakhet (Laos) to patrol and protect border areas.

Addressing the working, General Thanh hailed the good results achieved by the provincial Military Headquarters and the Border Guards Headquarters and asked them to thoroughly grasp the locality’s development while concentrating on crimes prevention, especially trans-national crimes. He also asked the Military High Command and Border Guard High Command of Quang Binh Province to work with local authorities to make political situation stable, and work closely with three forces of Army, Public Security and Border Guard to implement defence and security tasks.
