VND181 billion to upgrade reproductive health care services

(Quang Binh Website) - The Ministry of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on October 31 kicked off the US8.7 million project (over VND181 billion) in the provinces of Hai Duong, Ben Tre, Ninh Thuan, Kon Tum and Quang Binh.

The project's objective is to improve the quality of reproductive health care services in the most difficult areas and increasing people’s access to sexual and productive health.

The project will focus on collecting data, improving the compilation, implementation and supervision of laws, policies and programmes in the fields of population, reproductive health, sexual health and gender violence.

According to the Ministry of Health, the country has now over 50% of hospitals at district level implementing cesarean delivery service and 47% of hospitals at district level implementing blood transfusion technique.

The project will also focus on training health staffs to have a capacity of implementing essential obstetrical services such as cesarean delivery, blood transfusion and uterus amputation in case of obstetrical accident at district level.
