Save the Children helps Quang Binh families affected by the storm

(Quang Binh Website) - The Save the Children in Vietnam led by Country Director Gunnar Fridtjof Andersen on December 23 had a working visit to Quang Binh province. Receiving and working with the delegation were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung and representatives of relevent departments and branches.

In order to help poor families in Quang Binh overcome consequences caused by the storm, the Save the Children benefits about 1,200 households, including 2,400 children in four poor communes in Quang Trach and Bo Trach districts.

This is part of a 130,000 USD programme by the organisation to help Quang Binh families affected by the storm.

Country Director Gunnar Andersen said that in the time ahead Save the Children will continue calling for more support to help locals overcome consequences by disasters.

At the working session, Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung briefly informed of heavy consequences by the storm and sincerely thanked Save the Children and Mr. Gunnar Fridtjof Andersen for assistance. Vice Chairman Dung hopes to continue receiving more support from the Save the Children for poor families in Quang Binh.

Providing a relief in Phuc Trach commune (Bo Trach district) 

On Decemeber 23-24, Save the Children paid a visit and provided a support, including money and goods to poor households in Quang Long and Quang Phuong communes (Quang Trach district) and Phuc Trach and Son Trach communes (Bo Trach district).

Accordingly, more than 840 million VND (39,500 USD) were given to poor households in Bo Trach district by the Save the Children in Vietnam. The money will help locals in Phuc Trach and Son Trach communes repair their houses which were severely damaged by super-typhoon Wutip in late September.

The organisation also provided 827 million VND for disaster-hit households in Quang Phuong and Quang Long communes in Quang Trach district to improve their livelihoods and repair houses.

In addition, the organization is also providing clothes to 718 local pupils with a total value of 96 million VND.
