Signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the development of Quang Trach 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant

(Quang Binh Website) - Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai on January 28 had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the development of Quang Trach 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant with representatives of Russian Inter RAO Group. Attending the meeting was representatives of relevant departments, branches and local authorities of Quang Trach district.

After Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai briefly introduced about Quang Trach hydro-power center project in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district and called upon Russian Inter RAO Group to invest in construction of Quang Trach 2 hydro-power plant, representatives of Russian Inter RAO Group briefly informed of current situation of their groups and proposed cooperation opportunities with Quang Binh province, especially investment in Quang Trach 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant in Hon La Economic Zone.

Accordingly, under the Build-Operate-Transfer contract, Quang Trach 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant with a combined capacity of 2,400 MW to be located in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, is intended to cost 2.4 billion USD. Quang Trach 2 Thermo-Electric Power Plant is designed to have two turbines with a full capacity of 1,320 megawatts.

Speaking at the signing, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee applauded cooperation and investment of Russian Inter RAO Group in Quang Binh. He saying that the province will create all favorable conditions and issue some preferential investment policies for investors to learn about the projects and carry out investment in Quang Binh province. On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai saying that the province pledged to fully support the investors, with site clearance and the construction of crucial infrastructural facilities, like roads, power grids and water pipes.

Under the plan, the plant is slated to become operational in 2024 at the latest.
