Efforts to help children with disabilities integrate into community

 (Quang Binh Portal) - On June 27, the Steering Board of the project "Early Identification, Intervention and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Quang Binh province" held a final workshop of the project. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee, Head of the Steering Board of the Project Nguyen Tien Hoang attended the workshop.

The project "Early Identification, Intervention and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Quang Binh province" has been implemented in 9 communes of Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts and Dong Hoi city in Quang Binh province since August 2014.

With the goal to increase access of children with (hearing) disabilities to education and learning opportunities, during the past three years, the project has raised awareness of early indentification, intervention and inclusive education for 652 out of 500 children with disabilities and 23 out of 18 kindergartens, 10,340 out of 3,600 children without disabilities; provided the basic training for 66 health workers and 116 officials on inclusive education.

Besides, the project also provided 01 audiometer and 283 devices for functional identification; supported 56 wheel chairs and 20 audiophones for children with disabilities; trained on functional identification for 728 parents of children with disabilities and 136 cadres...


Granting awards to individuals who gained excellent achievements in the implementation of the project

Speaking at the workshop, Head of the Project Steering Board highly evaluated the results obtained in three years of implementing the project, contributing to help children with disabilities to access to services of early identification, intervention and inclusive education.

Besides, he also asked the agencies and units in close coordination with local authorities to help children with disabilities integrate into community.
