Overview of the courtesy reception

Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien expressed his pleasure at welcoming H.E. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam, and the delegation to Quang Tri for their visit and working trip. He affirmed that the special and steadfast friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is a valuable asset that has been diligently nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Briefing the delegation on the province's potential, advantages, and development orientations, Vice Chairman Le Duc Tien said that, following the reorganization of administrative units from July 1, 2025, Quang Tri Province now has greater development space, with an expanded population and land area, thereby creating greater room for socio-economic development.

Quang Tri currently has a number of outstanding advantages in terms of its geo-economic position, seaport system, East-West Economic Corridors, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, and tourism. The province is focusing on effectively tapping into its potential and advantages in marine resources, border gates, logistics, and energy; accelerating the development of strategic infrastructure projects, including the deep-water seaport system and Quang Tri Airport; while also exploring the development of clean and high-tech agriculture in association with logistics, air transport, and high-value-added industries.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized that, building on the sound traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, Quang Tri hopes that Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes will continue to pay attention to and support the province, serving as a bridge to promote and realize the cooperation agreements signed between Quang Tri and Cuban localities. This will help deepen bilateral cooperation and make it increasingly substantive and effective.

In addition to economic, trade, agricultural, and energy cooperation, Quang Tri also wishes to expand cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism. Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien proposed that Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes consider supporting the introduction and display of distinctive Cuban products at Fidel Castro Park, thereby contributing to enhanced cultural exchanges and promoting the image of Cuba and its people in Quang Tri.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his appreciation for the warm, cordial, and thoughtful reception extended by the leaders of Quang Tri Province to the delegation, and congratulated the province on its strong development in recent years. The Ambassador affirmed that Cuba stands ready to strengthen cooperation with and support Quang Tri in various fields. He also agreed with the provinc’s proposal to seek and expand cooperation between Quang Tri and Cuban localities, particularly in areas where both sides have strengths and cooperation needs. Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his confidence that, building on the tradition of solidarity and friendship, cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in general, and between Quang Tri and Cuban localities in particular, will continue to be strengthened and expanded, delivering practical results in the coming period.
