Rare monkey lost in a garden in Quang Tri

The rare pig-tailed monkey was discovered by locals in their home garden, so they kept it and reported it to the authorities.

On September 25, the People's Committee of Trieu Binh commune (Quang Tri province) confirmed that the unit had just coordinated with the forest rangers to receive a pig-tailed monkey handed over by the people to transfer to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on September 24, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nien (born in 1980, residing in Quang Dien village, Trieu Binh commune) discovered a monkey in his garden.

He kept them for care and proactively handed them over to the authorities on the morning of September 25 according to regulations.

The monkey weighs about 15kg, has light gray brown feathers, and is identified as the pig-tailed monkey (Macaca nemestrina) - a species in Group IIB in the List of endangered, precious, and rare wild animals, limited in exploitation, captivity and trade.
