Localities in the province paid and assisted VND45.7 billion for fishermen, achieved 93.5% of the plan

(Quang Binh Website) - Implementing Decision No.289/QD-TTg, dated March 18 2008 of the Prime Minister on promulgating a number of policies to support ethnic minority people, households eligible for preferential policies, poor households, near-poor households and fishermen in face of petroleum price hike, until November 15 2008, localities in the whole province paid VND45.7 billion out of VND48.9 billion which the Provincial People's Committee allocated in advance for districts and city, achieved 93.5% of the plan and equal to 71.4% of central expenditure allocated in advance for Quang Binh province.

Of which, supporting for buying insurances for body of vessel with the expenditure of VND522 million; supporting accident insurance for 9,226 crewmen with the expenditure of VND355 million and supporting for buying fuel for 3,114 vessels with the expenditure of VND44,823 million. At present, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is actively coordinating with the People's Committee of districts and city to instruct fishermen to urgently complete document for appraisement and approval, striving to complete allocation before December 20 2008.

The Prime Minister's Decision on timely supporting for fishermen in face of petroleum price hike is a sound decision in order to help fishermen reduce difficulties and resume seafood exploitation.
