Activities to respond to Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2015 held in Bo Trach district with provincial-level scale
Accordingly, a series of activities with provincial-level scale in response to the Vietnam’s Sea and Island Week 2015 will take place from June 1-8 in Bo Trach district.
The event aims to raise public’s awareness of the role and special importance of seas and islands to human life and sustainable development as well as the country’s sea and island sovereignty, promoting their love for the nation’s sea and islands, contributing to national development and stability.
Various activities under the theme of "Blue Ocean, Green Planet” will be held across the province with main events such as propaganda on importance of sea and islands as well as the country’s sea and island sovereignty protection, a meeting to celebrate the World Environment Day (June 5), World Oceans Day (June 8) and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2015 (June 1-8), a parade, beach clean-up programmes and tree planting, among others.
The provincial People’s Committee asked relevant agencies and localities to launch cultural and social movements to improve awareness, habits and lifestyles of the community towards being more friendly with environment; improve awareness of sea biological diversify conservation; pay a visit to soldiers who are in the islands on their mission and disadvantaged people living in coastal regions.
Knownly, from 2009 to now, Vietnam Sea and Island Week (June 1-8) in association with World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8) is an annual event to increase public awareness of special importance of sea and islands in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland as well as respecting values of oceans to the life human life.
The World Ocean Network has also launched the World Oceans Day theme for 2015 – 2016, namely “Healthy oceans, healthy planet”.
