 Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Dang Quang delivered a closing speech at the meeting

In 2016, Quang Binh province has implemented tasks for socio-economic development in difficult conditions. The Formosa-caused environmental inccidents, long-term hot weather and two consecutive torrential rains and floods in the past October have seriously affected to the people's production and life, causing heavy damages on persons and assets, influencing to the security and social safety and order in the province. These difficulties have affected to impelmentation of the targets for socio-economic development in 2016, targets on economic growth and other targets.

Concretely, economic growth rate was an estimate of 4.2% (plan 8%); value of fishery production, export turnovers, volume of tourists... have reached low. Some key projects have implemented low and met a lot of difficulties. Among 21 socio-economic targets, 8 targets have not reached the plan.

The meeting focused on advantages and challenges and proposed solutions to continue implementing tasks in 2016 and the following years.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee stressed that although Quang Binh has met a lot of difficulties, with a great efforts of the Party Committe, authorities and people, some targets for socio-economic development have achieved and exceeded the plan in 2016.

Besides, the province has implemented some key programmes and projects; completed the submissions for recognition of Kien Giang town and Hoan Lao town as the 4th-class urban area by the end of 2016.

As for main tasks in the coming time, Secretary Hoang Dang Quang asked all departments and branches to put forward drastic measures to well implement main tasks for the province's socio-economic development. The Provincial People's Committee is required to review targets for socio-economic development as well as shortcomings and restrictions to have solutions for implementation; and re-evaluate implementation of socio-economic tasks in 2016 to put forward solutions to build a socio-economic development plan in 2017 in accordance with the demand for the new period.
