The authorities in Quang Binh Province are planning to relocate 1,000 people in mountainous areas threatened by landslides.

Complicated landslide situation in Quang Binh

Nguyen Tien Hoang, vice chairman of Quang Binh People's Committee, said 300 households with 1,000 people from 20 villages will be evacuated as the landslide situation after floods in the mountainous areas is still very complicated.

All of them will be given support to build houses and buy seeds or livestock at the new resettlement areas.

On November 8, the border guards visited many landslide areas and worked with the authorities in Quang Binh to survey vulnerable locations, make evacuation plans and select a new location to rebuild Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone which was destroyed in a previous landslide on October 20.

The landslide also damaged many nearby houses and the roads. Everyone was able to move out in time.

Landslides also threaten the lives of 34 households in Truong Son Commune, Quang Ninh Province. The local authorities are making plans to evacuate those in danger zone. Resettlement tasks will be carried out in early 2021.
