In the first nine months of 2011, the district’s socio-economic situation had many positive changes in all fields. Concretely, total food production reached 45,210 tons, up 15% against the same period last year; industrial - handicraft production value reached VND157.8 billion, up 31.66%; total state budget revenue achieved VND43.1 billion, equal to 137.0% against the forecast and up 50.7% against the same period last year; providing jobs for 3,050 laborers and so on. The district has so far built 275 houses according to Decision No.167 of the Prime Minister and approved the master plan for building rural areas for 13 out of 13 communes in the district.

Orientations for development in 2012, Quang Binh district strives to reach economic growth rate of 11-12%; agricultural, forestry and fishery production value up to 4-5%; industry and handicraft up to 13-14%; food production reaches 43,740 tons; total budget revenue reaches VND34 billion; solving jobs for 3,000 laborers; providing vocational training for 660 laborers; completing primary and secondary compulsory education for 15 out of 15 communes and towns; rate of households in rural areas using fresh water reaches 80% and so on.

At the working session, representatives of departments and branches focused on discussing obtained results in the first nine months of 2011, the plan for 2012 and answered questions and petitions of the district.

Addressing the working, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai praised the efforts made by the Party Committee and people of Quang Ninh district in the past time and highly appreciated obtained results in the fields, especially work of site clearance. Chairman asked the district to mobilize all resources and find out specific solutions to promote socio-economic development, successfully implementing the planned targets, contributing to building Quang Ninh district to become more and more prosperous.

"Quang Ninh district should develop agriculture in association with industries and tourism services", he stressed.

In the forthcoming time, chairman asked the district should speed up investment attraction, bring into play tourism potentials, develop land fund, pay attention to traffic safety; take measures to prevent and control flood and storm, etc.
