A ceremony to mark 50th anniversary of Agent Orange catastrophe in Vietnam

(Quang Binh Website) - The Provincial Association of Victims for Agent Orange/Dioxin and the Quang Binh Television Station, on August 9 held the 50th anniversary of the Agent Orange catastrophe in Vietnam (August 10 1961 - August 10 2011) and an exchange entitled "Joining hands to ease AO pains" at the Provincial Center for Culture and Information. This was an opportunity for people who love the peace and justice across the world to learn more about heavy consequences of AO catastrophe in Vietnam, contributing to joining hands to help and share the pains with AO victims.

Granting gifts to AO victims at the ceremony

The ceremony was attended by Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung; representatives of agencies, localities, businesses and families of AO victims in the province.

In his speech given at the ceremony, PPC Vice-chairman Tran Tien Dung expressed his deep sympathy for the pains of AO victims and praised AO victims for their determination to overcome every difficulty to integrate into the community and become a useful person for the society. The comrade also called on all levels, branches, organizations and individuals to do as much as possible to help AO victims ease their pains and improve their lives. Especially, he asked the Quang Binh Provincial Association of Victims for Agent Orange/Dioxin to bring into play the spirit of mutual affection and further the movement entitled "For AO/Dioxin victims in Vietnam".

At the ceremony, many businesses, organizations and individuals joined hands to donate more than VND2.3 billion for AO victims to contribute to share the pains with families of AO victims in the province.
