Stream blocked at Thac Chuoi reservoir

(Quang Binh Website) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee on January 04 jointly held a ceremony to block the stream for second phase at the Thac Chuoi Reservoir in Bo Trach district's Phu Dinh commune.

Present at the ceremony were Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Tran To Nghi, Deputy Head of Department of Construction Management under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; and representatives of relevant agencies and localities.

The Thac Chuoi Reservoir will have an estimated capacity of 32 million cubic metres, with total investment of VND367 billion (US$17.5 million). The reservoir will supply water to 2,000ha of paddy fields, 600ha of farmland and 300ha of acquaculture ponds. It will also be used to monitor irrigation during the dry season.

According to Phan Van Khoa, director of the department, blocking the stream would allow work to be operational more quickly. The project is expected to be operational at the end of this year, three months ahead of schedule.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice-chairman Tran Van Tuan praised the efforts and results that relevant agencies and units obtained in the process of implementing the project at the Thac Chuoi Reservoir. He also thanked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Construction Management for this project's assistance.

Vice-chairman also asked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Project Management Board and relevant localities to create all favorable conditions to fulfill the project as scheduled.
