Vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee speaks at the meeting

At the workshop, participants were introduced to the REDD+ and its implementation progress in Vietnam as well as practical experience made in Lam Dong and Dien Bien provinces; and the recommendations for REDD+ implementation in Quang Binh province.

In addition, participants and experts also focused on discussing the establishment, function, task and role of the provincial steering board and the working teams; building the plan for implementation of REDD+ project in Quang Binh in the last months of 2012.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice-chairman highly appreciated the role of REDD+ project to socio-economic development of the province and stressed that this was a good opportunity to assist Quang Binh province in sustainable management of forests, conservation of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks, contributing to successfully implementing the national strategy on climate change and poverty reduction towards sustainable development.

Through this workshop, Vice chairman expressed his hope that there will have many initiatives and experience to assist the province in effective implementation of REDD+ project in Quang Binh.
