Attending the launching ceremony were Mr Luong Ngoc Binh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Mr Hoang Dang Quang, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and representatives of departments and branches, unions, localities and businesses in the province.

Over the recent years, the "Day for the poor" campaign has actively responded by all authorities, agencies, organizations, businesses and people in the province. Statistics show that more than VND 64 billion was raised for the poor in 2011 and the first nine months of 2012 to build and repair 18,160 lapidated houses of poor households, worth VND over VND147 billion, contributing to solving the demand of house for the poor and completing the plan for deleting temporary house for poor households in the first phase (2009-2011).

In addition, the Fund "For the poor" has also assisted the poor in production development, medical treatment and examination and creating conditions for poor pupils to go to school with a total value of tens of billions of VND. It has also helped over 20,000 poor households to escape poverty and have a stable life, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and social security programme of the province.

At the present, the province still has over 44,056 poor households who mainly live in remote, far-reaching and ethnic minority areas. They are expected to receive the supports from the State and community to escape poverty and resume the life.

Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Luong Ngoc Binh warmly applauded good deeps of all collectives and individuals in response to the "Day for the Poor" campaign in the past time. He stressed that hungry elimination and poverty reduction is a major policy of the Party and State with the aim of developing the tradition of solidarity, mutual affection and love of the nation and the power of the political system as well as the whole society to pay more attention to the poor.

The Secretary took the occasion to call upon all agencies, union, organizations, businesses and benefactors to join hands in assisting the poor in the province.

At the launching ceremony, organizations and individuals contributed over VND6,348 million to the Fund "For the Poor" of the province.
