MoU signing ceremony of UXO and Landmine Clearance Project (phase V)
The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung, head of the Steering Committee of MAG Quang Binh project; and Ms. Portia Stratton, Country Director of MAG.
Accordingly, the project aims to reduce the threat of death and injury from landmines and unexploded ordnance, and assist in the socio-economic development of conflict affected communities in Quang Binh province.
The phase V of the MAG project in Quang Binh will be implemented in three years (from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2017) with a total investment of $3.9 million.
Reportedly, Quang Binh is one of six central provinces seriously contaminated by landmines and UXO with 28kg of UXO per square meters.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Head of the Steering Committee of MAG project in Quang Binh affirmed the important role of MAG project to socio-economic development in the province and highly spoke the results that the project obtained in the previous four phases. He expressed his hope that MAG will attract the sponsors to ensure source of capital for implememting the project's phase V as a scheduled plan.
