In six beginning months, NGOs pledges to aid nearly US$5.5 million

(Quang Binh Portal) – Quang Binh province currently has 30 projects funded by the non-government organisations (NGOs), of which 16 projects were received with a total pledged capital of US$5,479,816 in the six beginning months of 2015.

NGO projects has contributed to socio-economic development, raising awareness of the people, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, solving social affairs and improving living conditions for people, especially poor women and children and disabled people.

Typically, the community-based disaster risk management project in Quang Binh province funded by Marga and Water Boll had a total aid value of US$683,079; the community hygiene output-based aid (CHOBA) project ans SPELL scholarships carried out by East Meets West (EMW) had a total aid value of US$612,458; the projects of supporting approach and effectively using forest land resource for Van Kieu ethnic people in Quang Ninh district and value chain for raising shrimps carried out by the Inter-Church Organisation for Development Cooperation (ICCO) of the Netherlands had an aid value of US$385,766.

In the second six months of 2015, the province will continue speeding up aid mobilisation and promoting attraction for projects from new organisations.

The province defined aid mobilisation will focus on key fields given top priority such as health, education-training, social affairs, socio-economic development, natural resources – environment and disaster prevention.

The projects will be carried out in difficult areas and disaster-affected areas. The project objects are poor and vulnerable people in the society.
