"Kong: Skull Island" film crew arrived to begin working in Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Portal) - On February 22 morning, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Quang Binh province together with many central and local press reporters and hundreds of fans were present at the Dong Hoi International Airport to warmly welcome the "Kong: Skull Island" film crew to Quang Binh for shooting screnes of the "Kong: Skull Island" film.

The crew of 150 people had landed at Dong Hoi airport in Quang Binh at 9:40am earlier the same day. The film crew includes director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, actor Samuel L.Jackson, actor Michael Keaton, artress Brie Larson and other famous movie stars from Hollywood.

They were welcomed by hundreds of reporters and locals who had been waiting for their arrival with bouquets of flowers and hand-held signs reading ‘Welcome Titan to Quang Binh".

The crew took off shortly after their arrival, boarding vans to Phong Nha, a town in Quang Binh and home to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then other places like the Valley of Cha Noi, Yen Phu Lake and Chuot Cave in Bo Trach and Minh Hoa districts to prepare for scenes in the movie.

Mr. Ho An Phong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province, said the crew would stay in Quang Binh for five days, from February 22 through 27. During this time, the provincial leaders will have two meetings with the crew. Provincial authorities would ask the film crew to leave some props used in the movie as souvenirs, which will be placed at sites where the movie is being shot. Quang Binh would place statues featuring characters in "Kong: Skull Island" in front of the cave of Tu Lan and other tourist sites in the province to promote local tourism.

All hotels in Phong Nha have been fully booked since late last year and will house the crew during their stay for the shoot. Many hotels and restaurants in the town have put up ‘Welcome Titan to Phong Nha’ banners in an effort embrace the crew.

‘Kong: Skull Island’ tells the story of a group of adventurers who set foot on an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean – one so breathtaking that people cannot believe it is real. Little do they know that they have just walked into the territory of the legendary King Kong.

The film, produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, is expected to hit cinemas in March 2017.
