VND2bn donated to cancer girl from Quang Binh

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao
Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao lost her mother to brain cancer and her father suffered from depression when she was only eight months old. Her grandparents had to take care of her. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was brought to Hanoi for treatment.
"I was shocked when I heard the news. Her mother is dead, her father fell ill and now she is tortured like this. It's so unfair," said Thao's grandfather Nguyen Thanh Hien.
Hien sold their rice field to pay the hospital charges. After their story was published, Hien said they had received a lot of help. Nearly VND1bn was donated directly to Hien and via the hospital. Hien said he would use all of the money for Thao's treatment.
Dr Luong Quoc Hoan from Hanoi National Cancer Hospital K3 in Tan Trieu said that the hospital charge was not a worry anymore since many kind people have visited and donated to Thao. He said, "She needs early chemotherapy. We'll give her seven sessions and she has just had the first session."
Ngo Thi Nham from the hospital's social work office said, "Thanks to Dantri Newspaper and readers that Thao is helped. The donated money is more than enough for Thao and I hope everyone will help other difficult cases."
As of October 25, nearly VND2bn has been donated to Thao. Thao's family also expressed gratitude and asked everyone to stop donating to them so that help will come to other cases.
