Top priority given to ODA attraction in five fields

(Quang Binh Portal) – Over the past time, Quang Binh has effectively used assistances from ODA capital, considerably contributing to the province’s socio-economic development, poverty alleviation and infrastructure construction, helping to change the province’s face in a positive way. Through ODA projects, the province has been provided an assistance in capacity building, transfer of advanced secience and technology and approach for modern management methods, helping the province reach the national average.

From 2011 to 2015, the province has 28 on-going projects with a total ODA capital of US$346.94 million, including ODA capital of US$276.53 million and corresponding capital of US$70.41 million, of which there are 14 projects completed in the 2011-2015 period; 12 projects moved to the 2016-2020 period and 06 projects newly inaugurated in 2015.

Concretely, there are 13 projects in agriculture and rural development with a total signed investment of US$169.6 million, making up 48.88% of total ODA capital in the 2011-2015 period. An investment of US$13.04 million is given to education and health, making up 10.3%; US$133.703 million to tourism and public services, making up 38.53%; US$24.3 million to electricity, making up 07% and US$6.3 million to transport, making up 1.8%.

The projects have contributed to meet an urgent need of infrastructure, improve management capacity of local authorities, create a basis for implementing programs on poverty alleviation and job creation and enhance the people’s responsibility to the community.

In order to improve the efficiency of ODA capital in the 2016-2020 period, the top investment priority is given to infrastructure construction, development of social infrastructure, development of human resources with a focus on high-quality human resources; development of science, technology and knowledge economy; agriculture and rural development; environmental protection and natural resources in response to climate change.

It is estimated that total ODA capital and coresponding capital in the 2016-2020 period is over US$14.327 billion.
