The talk was attended Mr. Phosay Xayasone, Deputy Secretary of the Savannakhet provincial Party Committee and Savannakhet Vice Governor; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Signing an agreement on border cooperation between Quang Binh and Savannakhet provinces

At the talk, the two sides evaluated the situation and results of border cooperation in 2016 and the implementation of the agreement on solving the problems of free emigrant, illegal marriage in Vietnam-Lao border area between the two provinces of Quang Binh and Savannakhet in 2016.

Accordingly, the two sides have maintained a cooperative relationship in the fields of the national defence - security and the border between the authorities and the task force, organized the annual talks between the provincial-level agencies and functional forces.

Many positive results have also been seen in work of propaganda and dissemination of law on border, protection of political security and social safety and order, cooperation in implementation of the policies on free emigrant and illegal marriage in the border area.

In addition, the two sides also put forward difficulties in border cooperation in the past time between the two provinces and proposed the effective solutions for implementation in the future.

In the spirit of the friendship and cooperation, the two sides focused on discussions to agree upon the collaborative contents and sign a cooperative agreement in 2017.

Specificially, the two sides will continue to develop the close, regular and effective relation between the authorities and border protection forces of the two provinces, regularly organize information exchanges on political situation, security, social safety and order of each side; effectively implement the propaganda, dissemination and legal education, agreement on border regulations between Vietnam-Laos and the agreement on solving the problem of free emigrants and illegal marriage in the common border area of Vietnam-Laos; mobilize people to actively participate in protecting the border line and milestones; strengthen work of patrol and prevention from illegal immigration, smuggling and transporting drugs across the border, logging, forest products and hunting of wild animals illegally.

The two sides also agreed views on issues relating to border gate and socio-economic development in the border areas.

The next talks on border cooperation is expected to be held in the Kaysone Phomvihane town, Savannakhet province, Laos in 2017. The specific time will be exchanged through the diplomatic missions of the two provinces.
