Attending the ceremony were Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines Nguyen Sy Hung and representatives of Ministries, central departments and branches. On the side of Quang Binh province, there were Quang Binh People’s Council Chairman Luong Ngoc Binh, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Phan Lam Phuong and leading representatives of the Party and all levels of authorities.

Dong Hoi airport is an inland terminal and has a design capacity to receive A320 and A321 airplanes as well as other medium-sized aircraft. With a comprehensive and modern equipment system, Dong Hoi airport was designed under the "four C" standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The airport has the total area of 4,282 m2 and can receive 300 passengers during rush hours as well as a total of 500,000 passengers per year.

Cutting the inauguration brand of Dong Hoi Airport

Dong Hoi airport was located in two communes of Quang Phu and Loc Ninh, 6 km from the center of Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province, from 17⁰30’54’’95N to 106⁰35’26’’85E (Coordinates: WGS - 84). Dong Hoi Airport was invested and built by the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration with the total capital of VND 212 billion. After the inauguration ceremony, Dong Hoi airport will launch commercial flights of the Hanoi-Dong Hoi route with three flights a week. In the future, Dong Hoi airport will be expanded and upgraded into a level II airport to receive large-sized aircrafts such as Boeing.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung stressed: In order to create condition for socio-economic development in Quang Binh province, the Government decided to invest in construction of Dong Hoi airport, a large airport in the Central region. Once put into use, Dong Hoi airport will meet the more and more need for transport by airway, contributing to the process of socio-economic development of the province. Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung also asked the authorities and people of Quang Binh province to create favorable conditions and have preferential policies for Dong Hoi airport to fulfill the assigned tasks.

On this occasion, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Phan Lam Phuong awarded Certificate of Merit to three collectives and two individuals who made great achievements in the process of building and putting Dong Hoi airport into operation, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Binh province. That was Northern Aviation Administration, Dong Hoi Aviation Administration, Management Board of Dong Hoi airport project, Airport Construction Company - ACC under the Vietnam Air Defence and Air Force, Northern Aviation Administration’ Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Di, Head of Management Board of Dong Hoi airport project Pham Anh Duc.
