A ceremony to receive and rebury remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts repatriated from Laos

(Quang Binh Website) - In the morning of May 7 2009, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Binh province held a solemn ceremony to receive and rebury remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts repatriated from Laos at the Ba Doc martyr cemetery, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.

Attending the ceremony was representative of the Laos Governmental Special Working Committee, the government of Khammuon province, the Vietnamese Governmental Special Working Committee and the Ministry of Defence; representative of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the High Command of Military Zone IV. On the side of the province, there were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Luong Ngoc Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Lam Phuong together with representative of departments and branches at provincial level.

Over the past time, the search team No.589 of the Provincial Military Command has found 78 sets of remains of martyrs, of which 5 martyr were named, including Do Van Ngon in Cau Dong, Quang Trung, An Lao, Hai Phong; Nguyen Huu Do in Hai Chanh, Hai Lang, Quang Tri; Tran Tat Thang in Quang Thai, Quang Son, Thanh Hoa; Nguyen Viet Quang in Ben Thuy, Vinh, Nghe An and Dang Van Thanh (his native place has not been known as yet). These were the soldiers who joined in volunteer forces and laid down their lives during the war in Laos.

Addressing the ceremony, Province Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat praised the great effort of soldiers of the team No.589 and expressed sincere thanks to the government and people of Khammuon province. It was known that the burial ceremony of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts repatriated from Laos was organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Truong Son Trail's establishment. This was a good opportunity to express our deep gratitude to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their life for the cause of national liberation and international mission.
