At the working, leader of Le Thuy district briefly reported of its socio-economic situation in the first eight months of 2009. A lot of big changes have been seen in the fields of agricultural production, trade and tourism, education, health, culture and society, national defence and security. As estimated, the total area under cultivation achieved 22,230 ha, equal to 100.4% against the same period of 2008; the average paddy output achieved 47.14 quintal/ha, increased 320.4 tons compared with same period of 2008; the total herd of cattle reached 103,236 heads, equal to 101.6% against same period; the total herd of poultry reached 886,000 heads, equal to 120.1% against same period. The total retail sales of goods and services in eight months achieved VND462,000 million, equal to 111.2% against same period of 2008. Rate of children to school achieved 100% of the assigned plan; rate of undernourished children under five years olds decreased by 24%...

Giving a speech at the working, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong highly appreciated the results that Le Thuy district obtained in all fields and asked the district to focus on solving shortcomings in the past time. Chairman Phuong emphasized that in order to promote development of industry and tourism sector, the district need to expand and restore traditional trade villages, develop business production, pay attention to key economic sectors to attract investment, focus on develop human resources to serve socio-economic development, meeting the demand for the cause of industrialization and modernization of the nation.
