Six central provinces provided by a rural water supply and sanitation project

(Quang Binh Website) - A project on rural water supply and sanitation in the central region, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be carried out in six central provinces, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, and Binh Dinh.

The Prime Minister has just submitted a document to the State President for consideration and approval of a loan from the ADB to fund a rural water supply and sanitation in the central region.

Before, under the authority of the Prime Minister, on February 2, 2010, the State Bank of Vietnam’s Governor Nguyen Van Giau signed a loan agreement on above project with the Country Director, Chief of the ADB in Vietnam Ayumi Konishi. $45 mln loan for clean water, sanitation in central Vietnam has a 32-year term, including an 8-year grace period with an interest rate of 1 percent a year, and a rate of 1.5 percent for the rest of the term.

The project aims at improving public health and living standards of local people in rural areas; helping the implementation of the national strategy on rural water supply and sanitation.
