Provincial People’s Committee had a working session with the group of experts of IUCN

(Quang Binh Website) – The provincial People’s Committee had a working session with the group of experts of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on verifying the entire dossier submitted by the country to seek the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s second UNESCO recognition for its biodiversity.

The working was attended by Permanent Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Cong Thuat; leader of the Management Board of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park together with representatives of related departments and branches.

At the working, experts of IUCN highly valued the efforts made by the Management Board of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and close coordination between related agencies in protecting the Park in the past time.

Regarding the entire dossier submitted by the country to seek the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s second UNESCO recognition for its biodiversity, experts of IUCN said that UNESCO would only evaluate the park’s biodiversity with unexpanded area or ask the Park to supplement the survey results of biodiversity with expanded area into the dossier submitted to UNESCO for approval.

Addressing the working, Permanent Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Cong Thuat acknowledged the objective evaluations of IUCN experts and affirmed that the province would bring into play obtained results and take measures to improve the quality of the heritage’s conservation in the coming time.
