According to Luong Ngoc Binh, Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, in 2010 the province achieved an economic growth rate of 8.9%, along with a reduction in the number of poor families.

Together with its socio-economic development plans, the province issued an action plan to realize the Government’s resolution on curbing inflation, stabilizing the macroeconomy and ensuring social welfare.

The province is striving to increase the collection of the State budget by 7-8% in 2011.

Regarding the preparations for the election of National Assembly deputies, term XIII as well as People’s Council deputies for the 2011-2016 period, Mr. Binh said that the province had established election boards and adopted the number of elections units and the number of deputies to be elected.

Speaking with provincial leaders, Truong Tan Sang said he was happy with what had been achieved, adding that it would be important for the province’s socio-economic development in 2011.

He noted that the province’s target for rapid and sustainable development with a per capita income of USD 1,400-1,600 per year by 2015 was realizable; however, the province should pay attention to avoiding a widening gap between urban and rural areas and between plains and mountainous areas.

He said that the province could accelerate production in the cement industry, together with the protection of the environment, while concentrating on developing handicraft and traditional trade villages.

He urged the province to expand tourism development as it boasts world class natural heritages.

Regarding preparations for the election, he asked the province to make plans based on principles and to create a high level of consensus in society.

He added that the province should focus on well treating talented people, improving administrative procedures, increasing competitiveness and attracting projects to help the province escape poverty and achieve sustainable and rapid development.
