Attending the meeting was PPC Vice Chairman Tran Van Tuan together with representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Bordering on the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Cha Lo border gate economic zone is the international gateway in the west of East - West Economic Corridor of Quang Binh province. This is a western urban and economic center of the province and a big trade hub of North Central region in combination with trans-Asia traffic system.

The plan's objective is to build and develop Cha Lo border gate economic zone into an special economic zone under the territory and national sovereignty; an attractive investment environment for foreign investors and an import and export center for goods and services.

It also aims at making full use of available advantages to promote economic development in the North Central region; developing production and forms of services; speeding up export and expanding market.

The plan also briefly evaluated natural conditions and socio-economic situation of the province; and worked out orientations for development of Cha Lo border gate economic zone in architectural space, land use planning, infrastructure system and protection of environmental landscapes.

Speaking at the meeting, PPC Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai agreed on the plan on construction of Cha Lo border gate economic zone through 2030 and stressing that the relevant agencies and unit should collect contributions and have a close combination to adjust and complete the plan.

Once being approved, the plan will contribute to promoting economic structure of the province; improving the people’s spiritual and material life and ensuring national defence and security in the province, Chairman said.
