Photo exhibition on homeland seas and islands

(Quang Binh Website) - An exhibition with 143 photos related to Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos was on display at the statues of Mother Suot in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province on June 20.

The event was joint organized by the Dong Hoi City, the provicnial Department of Information and Communications, the provincial Literature and Arts Association and the journalists of central press agencies in Quang Binh.

The exhibition drew the participation of provincial leader, representatives of relative departments and branches, provincial photographers and central journalists in Quang Binh together with many students and local people.

The event is a part of a series of activities to celebrate the 89th anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) and to express the hearts of the journalists and photographers of Quang Binh to the sea and islands of the fatherland.

The exhibition aims to affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos, as well as raise the awareness of people, especially youth, about the great importance of protecting the national sea and island sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The highlight of the exhibition is the display of a collection of photographs taken by journalists and correspondents from Quang Binh province and several cities and provinces, which depicts the activities of Vietnam’s navy in protecting sea and island sovereignty and the daily life of residents in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.

Also at the exhibition, the organizing board launched a campaign to send a message to support Hoang Sa and Truong Sa via the 1409 switchboard.

The exhibition will last to June 22 2014.
