Cutting ribbons to inaugurate the drainage and waste water treatment system in Dong Hoi city

The ceremony was attended by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Luong Ngoc Binh; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai; representatives of ministries and central agencies, World Bank in Vietnam and others.
This is one of three WB-funded projects on environmental sanitation for central coastal cities.

The environmental sanitation project in Dong Hoi city has a total investment capital of USD78.5 million, of which, more than US$59 million from the WB's preferential loans, more than USD1.3 million in non-refundable aid and the remainder sourced from local budget.

The project's objectives focused on building and upgrading drainage system, collecting wastewater for the city's wards, building a waste water treatment plant, supplying collecting garbage equipment; supporting a sanitation programme at schools, enhancing communication campaigns and raising public awareness of keeping the environment green.

With the designed treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic metres of waste water per day, using environmentally friendly waste treatment technology, the waste water treatment plant in Duc Ninh will benefit 78,000 residents in the city.

Construction for the project began in March 2007 and was completed in March 2014. Up to now, the project has been put into operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that this is a key project, playing an important role in improving the quality of environmental sanitation for the residents in Dong Hoi city.

Chairman also assigned specific tasks to relevant agencies to effectively manage and use the project, reducing environmental pollution and improving the quality of life for the city's residents.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented Merit of Certificate to 07 collectives and 07 individuals for their excellent achievements in the process of implementing the project.
