At the meeting, Dr. Juergen Hess said that Quang Binh is an important partner of the GIZ Natural Resources Management Program in Vietnam. The delegation's visit to Quang Binh is to discuss difficulties in sustainable management of natural forest resources and shared experience learned from cooperation with GIZ; strategies and visions on management of natural resources.

Dr. Juergen Hess also hoped to receive a support of the province to successfully implement the Natural Resources Management Program in Quang Binh and Phong Nha - Ke Bang Region Project in the coming time.

Besides the support of the GIZ Natural Resources Management Program in Vietnam, the provincial departments and branches play an important role to biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism development and bufferzone planning, Dr. Juergen Hess added.

Ms Kirsten Hegener also highlighted challenges in management of natural resources and poverty alleviation in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Region.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee said that Quang Binh is a poor province while its forest resources is abundant, especially in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park region, thus, the support of the GIZ Natural Resources Management Program in Quang Binh is very necessary. Vice Chairman expressed his hope that the program's coordinators will have specific strategies to help the province's forest sector develop in the future.
