Workshop on REDD+ and issues involved

Started in Quang Binh at the end of 2013, the REDD+ project has carried out many activities and achieved the acknowledged results. In 2014, the Provincial Management Unit of REDD+ project realized 100% of the approved plan with an expense of VND884,713,000. The project opened many training courses to improve awareness of climate change and REDD+ initiatives, organized workshops to share information and experience in REDD+ and forest protection.
In 2015, with a total expense of nearly VND2.2 billion, the Provincial Management Board of REDD+ project has reimbursed VND342,875,000 in the six beginning months; organized many activities for the project’s components such as meeting, training, propaganda…
At the workshop, members of the project also reported situation of climate change and operations for REDD+ readiness preparation in Quang Binh. Accordingly, objective of REDD+ is to reduce emissions from reforestation and forest degradation; reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect global climate system through forest development and protection, utilization and sustainable management of forests.
