Representative of the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park granted certificate of merit to collectives for their excellent achievements in 2016

In 2016, despite meeting many difficulties in bad weather and being seriously affected by environmental incidents and the torrential rains and floods in the last months of the year, thanks to the spirit of high responsibility, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park has obtained many achievements in all fields.

In order to well implement forest management and protection, the Management Board of PNKB NP has carried out 2.029 patrols, damaged 51 illegal tents (a 29.2% decrease of the same period last year), solved 182 cases violating natural resources of the National Park; paid about 529 million dongs in the State budget (down 55.6%).

Besides, the Park's Management Board has also implemented many measures for forest protection and patrols, coordinated with functional agencies to prevent forest fire, completed the forest inventory with a total area of 124,863 hectares; planted 45 landmarks along the common boundary between the National Park and buffer zone of Tan Trach commune.

In addition, the Management Board of PNKB NP has paid attention to biodiversity conservation with many scientific projects of fauna and flora; cared and rescued many precious wildlife with successful rate of 92%; published two books entitled "Wild Animals" and "Some species of important flora" in the National Park; updated and added more 16 species of flora and 107 fauna, etc.

Besides, the Park has also strengthened collaboration with domestic and foreign information channels to popularize tourism products and services. Many new tourism products and services have been operational such as tourism route of Va - Nuoc Nut Cave; discovery of 7,000m of Thien Duong Cave - Heaven Well; some new routes to explore natural beauty of the National Park.

Facilities for tourism acitivity have been invested and updated with a focus on developing more adventurous services, thrilling games, underwater sports, herbal foot soak, fish foot massage at Dark Cave, etc.

As of December 25th, more than 700,000 tourists visisted to the world's natural heritage site, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, including 82,410 international tourists, 622,632 domestic tourists. Total turnovers were estimated to reach 117 billion dong.

In 2017, the Management Boark of PNKB NP will continue coordinating with the organizations and projects to enhance the awareness of conservation and protection of forest environment at the villages in the bufferzone; strengthening forest management and protection; promoting propaganda and long term popularization, making a highlight to attract tourists; improving quality of existing tourism products; strengthening investment promotion and calling for domestic and foreign investors to PNKB; carrying out surveys to open new products, striving to the number of tourists to PNKB up to 5-7% against the year of 2016, etc.
