Quang Binh: remarkable results in foreign affairs in first six months of 2016

(Quang Binh Portal) - With the aim of reinforcing and developing of existing relations, expanding cooperation with foreign countries, international organizations, improving investment environment, strengthening aid mobilizations, exchanging cooperation of trade, tourism and culture, diplomatic activities in the six beginning months of 2016 have seen positive results, contributing to socio-economic development of the province.


Signing Memmorandum of Understanding with Indian investors on investment cooperation in the province

In the past time, Quang Binh has signed dialogue agreement with Khammouane province (Laos) on friendly cooperation between Quang Binh province and Khammouane province; Memmorandum of Understanding with Indian investors, DOHWA Corporation (South Korea), the SNV-Netherlands Development Organisation, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on implementing programs and projects in the province; actively deployed contents of agreements signed with Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces in the fields of politics, ecomony, national defence, security and border; solved free emigration and illegal marriage; sought and removed remains of Vietnamese martyrs and experts who sacrificed in Laos; cooperated with the provinces of Laos and Thailand under the nine-province association of three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand using the Road 8 and 12 to exchange culture, sport, transport and trade.

Besides, the province has also created favorable conditions for operations of ODA projects as scheduled plan, mobilized the approval for new projects such as the Asian Development Bank- funded project on technical support for developing basic infrastructure works serving comprehensive development in the central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri; the coastal cities sustainable environment project - Dong Hoi city subproject; the local road asstes management project; the capacity development project of Quang Binh Vocational College.

After a time of research and survey, Indian investor has planned investment report for three projects in the province, including: Phong Nha - Ke Bang ecological resort in Phong Nha village, Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district; Phuc Trach hot spring tourism site and bottled hot water assembly line in Phuc Trach commune, Bo Trach district; Vietnam - India Industrial Infrastructure in Quang Tung commune under Hon La Economic Zone, Quang Trach district.

In the six begining months of 2016, Quang Binh approved two FDI projects, including the project of super-lean pig breeding farm funded by Mr. Somthad Buntaphan from Thailand and Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thong with a total investment of VND 200 billion (equivalently USD 9.1 million); the project of Quang Binh tablet manufacturing factory of DOHWA Group (South Korea) with a total registered capital of VND 240 billion (equivalently USD 11 million).

From early year to now, the province has also received eight foreign NGO projects with a total committed capital of nearly VND 8.8 billion; newly issued, modified and supplemented the license of operation for 10 foreign NGOs (non-governmental organizations), raising total number of foreign NGOs in Quang Binh up to 45 ones; coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Committee for Foreign Non-governmetnal Organization Affairs and related ministries and agencies to solve procedures and operation management of foreign NGOs at the locality according to regulations; actively assisted and created conditions for organzations in implementating programs and projects in Quang Binh province.

Besides, the province has issued licenses for five television crews and foreign reporters to operate in Quang Binh, aiming to shoot films and write newspapers on landscapes and life of local people. In particular, the film crew from the Legendary Pictures (the United States) shot scenes for King Kong 2 film in communes of Tan Hoa and Trung Hoa (Minh Hoa district).

With border and island affairs, border guards and local authorities has carried out patrols to ensure safety for borderlines and landmarks; had a close collaboration with Khammouane and Savanakhet provinces (Laos) to fight against crimes along the borderlines, prevent illegal emigration, wild animal hunting, illegal logging, smuggling and drug cross the border, contributing to preserve political security and social safety, and build a borderline of friendship, peace, stability, cooperation and long-term development.

In the coming time, Quang Binh will organize a high-ranking delegation of Quang Binh province to pay a working visit and sign a cooperative agreement with Savanakhet province (Laos); host the 20th preparatory conference of nine provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand using Road 8 and 12 in Quang Binh province; continuously call upon investment and cooperation from South Korea, Japan and India to draw foreign direct investment (FDI); actively mobilize international agencies and organizations, foreign NGOs to implement the programs and projects.

In addition, the province will also deploy cooperation with Khammouane and Savanakhet provinces (Laos) in political, economic, national defence, security and border fields; cooperate with provinces of Laos and Thailand using Road 8 and 12; promote cooperation between Quang Binh and the Western Australia, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and the Tourism Association of Augusta Magret River, Dong Hoi city and Bunbury city, Department of Planning and Investment and the South West Development Commission; Ba Don town and Buk-gu district (Gwangjy city, South Korea); successfully organize the Quang Binh open traditional boat race, the 1st International Beer Festival and a series of activities to popularize and introduce about culture and tourism of Quang Binh, especially Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Son Doong Cave and others to domestic and foreign friends.
