Working with Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group

(Quang Binh Portal) - The Provincial People"s Committee on October 27 had a meeting with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) on adjusting the planning of the Quang Trach Power Centre. Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai presided over the meeting. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang and representatives of related agencies attended the meeting.

The Quang Trach Power Center belongs to the National Master Plan for power development for the 2011 – 2020 period and with the vision to 2030, which was approved at Decision No.1208/QD-TTg by Prime Minister.

The Centre is expected to build on an area of 240 hectares, including two coal-fuelled thermo power plants (Quang Trach 1 thermo-power plant and Quang Trach 2 thermo-power plant) with a total capacity of 2,400 MW.

At present, the 34 trillion VND (1.59 billion USD) Quang Trach 1 thermo-power plant, invested by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, was launched in Vinh Son hamlet, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district in September 2011. As its progress, the Quang Trach 1 thermo-power plant will put into operation by 2020.

The Quang Trach 2 thermo-power plant, to be located in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, is intended to cost 2.4 billion USD under the Build-Operate-Transfer contract. It is designed to have two turbines with a full capacity of 1,200 MW. So far, the project levelled 77% of volume of sites, compensated 124.48 hectares out of 199.3 hectares of land, reached 62.6%...

At the meeting, representatives of related agencies discussed to solve difficulties for the project, helping to ensure the progress on schedule and quickly put into operation.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed to adjustment of the planning of Quang Trach Power Centre and aksed PetroVietnam to speed up the project's progress as committed.

Besides, he also urged PetroVietnam to obey the State's regulations on construction.
