In 2015, tourists to Dong Hoi grew by 27.5% against same period

(Quang Binh Portal) - Defining tourism as a key economic sector, Dong Hoi city has paid attention to resources for infrastructure construction and urban embellishment in order to make it a new face for tourism development.
Besides, the recognitions of Nhat Le Beach as one of the top ten most attractive beaches in Vietnam by the Vietnam Records Organisation and Nhat Le, Quang Phu and Bao Ninh beaches as local tourism sites by the Provincial People's Committee have contributed to expansion of tourism space, making a highlight and effectively exploiting tourism potential of the city.

At present, the city has 163 accommodations with 3,061rooms and 5,966 beds, in which two accommodations meet five-star standards, a four-star accommodation and three three-star accommodations. In order to attract tourists, the city has focused on development of traditional cultural festivals to make a good impression on tourists.

Especially, the Dong Hoi Culture - Tourism Week 2015 has left a deep impressions on tourists with a series of cultural activities such as sport, entertainments, gastromony...

In the other hand, the city has also encouraged organizations and individuals in developing some traditional processing industries such as fish sauce, dried fish, dried cuttle-fish, handicrafts...

In 2015, number of tourists to Dong Hoi was estimated to reach about 1,116,800 tourists, grew by 27.5% against 2014. Turnovers from service activity and tourism were VND890 billion, reached 111.3% of the plan, increased by 17%.

In the coming time, the city will focus on strengthening State management on tourism activity in the province and actively mobilizing resources for tourism development in accordance with potential and strengths of the locality, contributing to successfully implementing the targets adopted by Resolution of the 20th Dong Hoi city Party Congress "To focus on strong development of service sectors, to regard tourism development as a breakthrough in the city's economy, of which tourism is considered as a key economic sector".
