Four day and three night tour conquering Son Doong Cave officially opens in 2018

 (Quang Binh Portal) - On the morning of October 5th, the Provincial People"s Committee held a meeting with the Chua Me Dat Company (Oxalis) to hear the operational result of the pilot tour of "Conquering Son Doong - the world"s largest cave" in 2017 and its orientations in 2018.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai together with Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of Bo Trach district and related agencies and units attended the meeting.

In 2017, Oxalis has effectively operated the tourist route "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave", contributing to meeting the tourists' demands of exploring the outstanding universal values of the world natural heritage site, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

In addition, the Company has also promoted work of propaganda through some videos on tourism popularisation of director Kong: Skull Island Josdan Vogt-Roberts and a film crew of the Sony studio; a TV show in Son Doong Cave of a film crew from Thailand Woody Talkshow, etc.

In 2017, with the exploitation of two routes, including a five day and four night route and a four day and three night route, the tour "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave" welcomed 708 tourists and 32 reporters. Of which, the four day and three night pilot route, which was operated from May 22th to August 31st with an itinerary of conquering "the Great Wall of Vietnam", has attracted 188 tourists with 19 tours. Its total revenues reached over VND48.4 billion.

With its operational orientation for 2018, the Company offered the Provincial People's Committee to officially operate the four day and three night route and close the five day and four day route.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asserted that the tour "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave" is an important tour, affirming tourism brand name of the province. He also pointed out some limitations in the process of implementation such as waste collection, environmental sanitation, attitudes of serving tourists, etc.

In the upcoming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee askes related units and enterprises to focus on overcoming shortcomings; building a specific itinerary for the tour "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave"; completing assessment of environmental impacts; ensuring safety for tourists when conquering "the Great Wall of Vietnam", etc.
