Traditional boat-racing festival on Kien Giang River

(Quang Binh Website) - On September 02 morning, the traditional boat-racing festival to commemorate the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was ebulliently taken place on the Kien Giang River, Le Thuy district.

Attending the festival were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan, provincial leaders together with thousands of local people and tourists.

In order to welcome the success of the August Revolution and celebrate the a-year anniversary of the Independence Day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Le Thuy district held the boat-racing festival on September 02 1946. From then on, the festival was annually organized and called the boat-racing festival to welcome Independence Holiday. This is a significant and great festival, contributing to creating a jubilant and exciting atmosphere to welcome the nation's great holiday. From early in the morning, thousands of local people and tourists inside and outside of the province were present in two banks of the Kien Giang River with the flags and slogans to cheer for the racing teams. Attending the festival this year were eleven boats with the race's length of 24km.

After one and a-half hours of the race, at the first class, the racing boat of Quy Hau team won the first prize, the second and the third were given to the Phu Tho team and the Loc Thuong team respectively. At the second class, the first prize was given to the Uan Ao team, the second and the third were given to the Thuong Phong team and the Tuy Loc team respectively.
