According to the report of the Planning and Investment Department, in August and the first eight months of 2008, despite of coping with unfavorable weather, epidemic diseases, high increase of price, the provincial socio-economic situation has developed stably and achieved a fair growth rate. The area under cultivation achieved 28,556 ha, equal to 99.6% against the same period. Breeding has gradually been stabilized; departments and localities have actively implemented solutions to prevent epidemic diseases. The industrial production value and capital construction have increased compared with the same period. Some key projects and programs have been speeded up the progress; budget revenues in August increased by 17.9% against the same period. Work of investment promotion has continuously achieved good results. A lot of big changes have been seen in the social and cultural fields. The people's life has been improved. National defence and security have been upheld.

At the meeting, delegates pointed out some shortcomings and restrictions in the past time, namely some key projects have been carried out slow, price of goods such as especially construction materials and food has increased high; logging and trading forestry products and illegal wildlife haven't been solved timely...

Giving a closing speech, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked departments and localities to focusing on checking and evaluating the implementation of the targets and tasks in the first eight months of 2008 to complete and exceed the targets and tasks in the remaining four months of 2008. Besides, the departments and localities should continuously direct and focus on taking care of summer-autumn crop; well implement the plan for winter-spring production crop; further the breeding development program; take the initiative in prevention of epidemic diseases; closely control and strictly solve illegal logging; well organize the beginning ceremony of the 2008-2009 academic year as scheduled and concurrently continue to speed up the implementation of the campaign to fight negative phenomena in exam and an addiction to "achievement" in education and well implement "the National traffic safety month, 2008".
