Attending the launching ceremony was Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai; Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang; Chairman of VPN Dinh La Thang; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC), Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Luong Ngoc Binh; Deputy Secretary of PPC, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai together with representatives ministers and central agencies; members of the Standing Committee of PPC, People's Council and People's Committee and related departments and branches.

Launching Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant 1

This high priority electricity project was part of the national power development plan. With a total investment of almost 1.7 billion USD, the Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant 1 will be built on an area of 244 ha, with a capacity of 1,200 MW, capable of generating 8.4 billion KW/hours per year. It was designed with two turbines, using coal-fired steam technology. The plant’s first generator will be put into operation in June 2015 and its second generator in December 2015. Once completed and put into full operation, the plant will be expected to provide jobs for more than 1,000 labourers and meet the demand of power load development in the central region.

Launching and siging a mutual emulation agreement

In addition, the project will assist the province to develop infrastructure for energy development and promote industrialisation and economic development. The project also plays an important role to development of Hon La Economic Zone and made a breakthrough for the province's industry to shift economic structures towards industrialization and modernization, and create favorable conditions to develop auxiliaries industries and other services.

Deputy Prime Minister addresses the launching ceremony

At the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) should coordinate closely with the major investor and contractor to ensure the efficient progress of the project. Deputy Prime Minister also asked local authorities to coordinate and create favorable conditions for the investor and contractor to surmount difficulties in the process of implementing the project like compensation, site clearance, water and electric supply, security and order.
