547 poor pupils awarded SPELL scholarship
(Quang Binh Website) - On the occasion of 2011-2012 school year, the provincial Study Promotion Association in coordination with East meets West Foundation awarded the Scholarship Program to Enhance Literacy and Learning (SPELL) to 547 poor pupils from 12 communes of Le Thuy, Bo Trach, Tuyen Hoa and Minh Hoa districts to prevent them from dropping out of school.
SPELL is funded by East Meets West Foundation with a total value of nearly VND320 million. SPELL targets pupils from the poorest 10% of impoverished families and provides them with funding for school fees, books, studying aids, uniforms, schoolbags and other expenses to contribute to helping poor pupils start a new school year.
