Heavy rains cause flooding in central Vietnam
Thousands homes in Quang Binh central province are now under water, forcing thousands people to live on their house roofs.
Several major streets in the province have been clogged as the result of the flooding, making hard for local residents to move.
In Le Thuy district alone, the water level in Kien Giang river has reached to the third alert level while the floodwaters is rising fast.
According to a brief report released by the district’s Steering Committee for Storm and Flood Control and Search and Rescue, nearly 700 local houses have been deeply submerged.

Heavy rains also inundated hundreds homes and part of National Highway 1A in Bo Trach district.
Furthermore, the drenching rains flooded 400 homes in Quang Ninh district and a section of 3km on Ho Chi Minh pathway.
In the meantime, some areas in Hoa Son and Thuong districts are now under 2m of floodwaters.
In a bid to provide emergency response to flood-hit areas, Quang Binh’s Steering Committee for Storm and Flood Control and Search and Rescue has urged local authorities to implement measures to cope with the flooding and to minimize human casualties, property damage and economic losses.
At least one death was reported due to the flooding in the province.
3 year-old boy Duong Ngoc Quan was drowned while his parents were tidying up their house to cope with the flooding without watching the boy.
The heavy rains also hit Hue central city as many areas have been inundated as the result of the floods.
According to local authorities, as 4pm of today, the water level in Huong river nearly reached to the second warning level while water level in Bo river was 0.73m higher than the third alert level.
Meanwhile thousands homes along Hieu River in Quang Tri central province have been deeply submerged under water.
Flooding also caused mudslides and affected many houses in Nghe An central province.
