Provincial People's Committee works with the Management Board of Greater Mekong Subregion Sustainable Tourism Development Project

(Quang Binh Website) - On Feb 24, the Provincial People’s Committee had a working session with delegation of the Management Board of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Sustainable Tourism Development Project. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Dung presided over the meeting.

Also present at the meeting were representatives of the Departments of Planning and Investment, Finance, Culture - Sport and Tourism, and leaders of the Quang Binh Provincial Management Board of GMS Sustainable Tourism Development Project.

Over the past time, the implementation of the project in Quang Binh province gained good achievements, making good premise for tourism development, a representative of the Project Management Board reported.

The project organized over 55 training courses, seminars and study tours for 10,057 employees (in which 5,827 female, accounting for 58%), contributing to quality of tourist services in Quang Binh province.

The project also provided a support to spread the image of Quang Binh tourism and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to foreign and domestic visitors through printing booklets, maps, documentary films and photos, etc.

At the meeting, delegates spent much time to analyze and discuss solutions to solve difficulties and shortcomings in the management and operation of the project.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman acknowledged obtained achievements and contributions of the delegation and consultants.

"The GMS Sustainable Tourism Development Project is one of key projects of the province, contributing to improving the awareness of the community and the quality of tourism services in Phong Nha - Ke Bang region", Vice Chairman stressed.

"All relevant agencies and the Project Management Unit should have a close combination to implement the project as scheduled plan in 2012", he said.
