Vietnam to reduce child malnutrition rate

The target was set at a meeting to discuss the implementation of a child nutrition enhancement project held by the National Institute of Nutrition under the Ministry of Health in central Quang Binh province on January 22.
Relevant agencies were urged to boost campaigns to raise public awareness of nutrition and provide packages of nutrition products to underdeveloped children, especially those under the age of two and children living in deprived areas.
Provinces were advised to launch programmes to prevent vitamin A and nutrient shortages in children under five, and provide training for local staff working in the field.
In an effort to improve the physical and mental well-being of the population, the Government of Vietnam adopted the National Nutrition 2020 Strategy Plan in February, 2012.
